Near the Exits
Recently, I met with a group of sexual assault advocates on a college campus. They are students who support other students. We sat at a table outside the library. It was a blissful 77 degrees in the California sun. At home, the forecast called for snow.
Describing their work they said, when there are big parties we are sober and we stand near the exits to see if anyone needs help as they leave. We do things like walk people home.
Is there any more sacred work than this?
We’re all just walking each other home. - Ram Dass
