Feb 28 Handed Down

There is something so elemental about the desire for the grown ups to tell us the way of things. This is lifeblood. This is why I asked my dad to go to breakfast this morning. I needed him to tell me the maxim he’s told me for 30 years. I know the words by heart. This isn’t an issue of recall. I could repeat the handed down wisdom to myself. But it isn’t the same.

We need the truest things repeated to us by people we love and trust. This is a gift -- the most precious kind.
