Daylight

Tonight we move our clocks ahead an hour. Or rather, Siri moves our clocks ahead an hour. And then sometime in the next week I remember to manually adjust the clock on the dashboard of my old car.

This is the moment when our hope begins to snowball. Tomorrow it will stay light until nearly 7pm. The day after, a few minutes more. According to my entirely inaccurate records, the first beach day of the year can come as early as mid-April. We’ve almost made it. Winter is almost over.

All that hope built on an hour of daylight.

Isn’t it funny how much power an 60 minutes holds?
