Always Look Again
I was writing with a group of people this morning and a friend said that yesterday as he wrote he was quite frustrated with what emerged. There was a problem. He couldn’t solve it. Today he sat down to write and the answer to the problem was quite clear. Move this sentence here, that one there. Ah, much better.
Sometimes the best decision is to step away. To let the process that we know needs to be iterative be, well, iterative. The problems get solved and the writing improves when we are consistent in our re-approach. The magic happens when we keep coming back ― consistently and predictably.
