A former colleague from Nicaragua introduced me to a most instructive concept: Juernes. 

Juernes is an amalgamation of Jueves and Viernes. That is, of Thursday and Friday.

Simply stated, Juernes is Thursday night. Not quite the weekend, but The Weekend Eve, if you will.

The benefit of observing Juernes is the extension of weekend feelings and the opportunity to gather round and cheers to Friday’s arrival. Happy Juernes!
